BIO
I am a professional potter and have been a student of ceramics for almost 40 years. After completing my MFA in 1992 at the New York State College of Ceramics at Alfred University, I received a Fulbright and an MAAA/NEA grant to continue my studies. My work is shown in numerous public and private collections including the Fine Arts Museum of San Francisco, and the permanent collection of WOCEF in Korea. I currently teach, lecture and show nationally and internationally.
STATEMENT
Lisa Orr’s softly formed artworks for the table are inspired by the playful and abundant qualities of Mexican earthenware. They are finished with gestural animals, stamps, slips, sprigs and multihued glazes. The jeweltone color evokes a healthy garden in bloom.
